Depends on how you define rip-off. Being up front about the origins of your code
does not, in my mind, allow you to rename the program, as if it were a
completely different animal. Only a different animal gets a different name,
right? Subtypes of the same animal keep the same name, with some modifier
attached, right? I've never played with Bionic, but even if credit was given, my
humble opinion is that it still could be ethically dubious. We all know that
people remember names, and that almost no one bothers to read the fine print
when they're downloading a free chess program. Where was Bob credited? Was it
hidden in the text of a readme file, or was credit given prominently on an
opening splash screen. Makes a big difference, in my opinion.
