2 Linares	1998	2752	21	Anand 7,5 out of 12	7

Out of the 6 Category 16 and higher tournaments of 1998, Anand played in 5 of
them (he did not play in Polanica Zdroj) and won (or tied for first) in four of
the five.

Anand wiped the challenger field and then tied Karpov in normal speed chess and
only lost the FIDE championship to him in speed chess (in a more normal
championship format of 20 or 24 games, Anand probably would have won, Karpov
would have fatigued).

Anand came in second place, 0.5 points behind Kasparov in Hoogovens (Wijk aan
Zee) 1999.

Anand tied for second place, 2.5 points behind Kasparov in Linares 1999.

Nobody else has even come close to these types of results:

4 1st place
3 2nd place (including vs. Karpov where the deck was stacked against him)

out of 8 tournaments or matches.

This obviously makes him the World Champion.

KarinsDad :)

PS. The above was tongue in cheek.
