I am having problems with aspiration window code and need help. On dynamic positions where the score is changing rapidly (ie white queening a pawn and score jumps dramataically), my aspiration search generates unusual behavior. After the search fails high (returns a score of >= beta), I research using a new window of alpha = beta - 1; beta = INFINITYSCORE; The problem is that this search now returns alpha! I noted that Crafty has a flag in Iterate.c that doesn't reset the alpha-beta window for a fail low following a fail high. Question is, any thoughts or comments on what is going on, how to find it, or how to fix it. William wbryant@ix.netcom.com
