Subject: Saving files in PGN format?

I've tried to save some files from various websites in PGN format.  How do you
save a PGN file without saving it as a text file? I've tried copying and
pasting, then saving it with a .pgn extension, but it is still recognized as a
text file.  Any help would be appreciated.
