Bottom line is that to this day nobody has proved that one kind of chess programming(knowledge-base vs fast searchers)is superior to the other...and if i can add my grain of salt i will say that although i have the utmost respect for Ed(Rebel)and all his fantastic ideas(2010,GM match.his very good website)i don't share with him the premise that you should differenciate a program from another whether it plays against another program or against a human..playing incorrect sacrifices to "scare" the humans or to get the game more interesting can be fun but only that...fun.That being said...what an interesting tread!Keep it up gang!Eh...i think my english is improving....
