There is a product that does exactly what you are asking. It is ChessRecorder for the Palm Pilot PDA. It is written by Alex Bootman and a free sample with limited function can be down loaded and tried from The PilotZone. As for a good chess program Pocket Chess by Scott Ludwig (also for the Palm Pilot) is decent. I estimate it plays about 1500-1600. Not real strong but when you consider where and when you are likely to use these things (standing in line at the airport etc.) you don't need great strength. I too searched the world for the best pocket chess machine, all the while hating the playing strength and size of the pieces on the typical portable. Check out a Palm Pilot. You won't be disappointed. David Ridge
