Hi CCC The Vast Majority of chess games Played on the planet between humans are usually games that last between 5-60 minutes. At these time controls computers are clearly grandmaster strength to even the most skeptical Person. Having said this, does it really matter that computers are not GM strength at 40/2? How many us realistically play at that time control anyway? If a Human grandmaster were to visit our chess club tommorow, no one would get the opportunity to play them at 40/2. My point is that we already have a grandmaster available to us, at the time controls that most of us play chess. Personally, when I want to be serious I play my programs at 40/1hr. I would suspect that many would agree Hiarcs6, and Rebel10 are grandmasters at this time control?, Am I right? I don't know about anyonelse but my reason for wanting to see a grandmaster level computer is that I would like the toughest possible opponent to put my abilities to the maximum test. Furthermore I would like analysis of my games to be of a high quality. I also like the idea of challenging an opponent that would earn a GM title if given the opportunity. (Just to avoid debate I mean time controls under 40/2 such as 40/1 or game in 60). From my perpective then Computers are already Grandmasters!!
