It's the opposite -- the fast searchers have an advantage at blitz, because an extra ply or even a fraction of a ply at blitz time controls can prove decisive. But, as search depth increases, the incremental gain per extra ply begins to diminish. (The difference between a 14-ply and 15-ply search is minimal, but at blitz, a 6-ply searcher will kill a 5-ply searcher) A good example of this is human vs. computer play. Think of a human as an extreme example of a "slow-search, high-knowledge" program. Humans do much better against computers at longer time controls. --Peter
