Well, you can't help things scrolling away on these WebBBS things,
but yours looked like a new post, so it's probably better to make
it self-contained and include all the information. Looks sort of
funny just to say 18 f5!. ;)
I played with the position for some time using Fritz 5.32 on a
fast machine, and at 15 ply it still liked N5e4 Nd5 f5, delaying
f5 by one move, but while white would probably still win eventually,
f5 looks best. I would probably have to let it run overnight for
Fritz to find it.
Strange thing though, as is so often the case, once you supply
the correct move, it sees the continuations immediately at a much
shallower depth. So then why the hell doesn't it see it by 15 ply?
It really does seem as though correspondence analysis would find
these thing faster. In other words, at 15 ply it doesn't see f5
as best, yet as soon as you supply f5, it sees it winning within
10 or 11 ply. It doesn't get confused by any drawing chances
either, it easily finds a clear win. Anyway here is Fritz 5.32
analysis of the winning line:
FEN "r4rk1/pp2qpp1/nnp1p2p/2b1P1N1/2P2P2/6N1/PP2Q1PP/R1B2R1K w - - 0 1"
1. f5 hxg5
(1... Qc7 2. N5e4 Qxe5 3. Qg4 Kh8 4. f6 Rg8 5. Qh4 Bf8
6. Ng5; +6.44 pawns)
2. f6 Qc7
(2... gxf6 3. Ne4 f5 4. Nf6+ 4... Qxf6 losing the queen,
else 4...Kg7 leads to mate in 8, 4...Kh8 = mate in 2.)
3.fxg7 Kxg7 4. Bxg5 f5 5. exf6+ Kh8 6. Bh6 Rf7 7. Qh5 Rh7
8. Bg7+ Kg8 9. f7+ Kxg7 10. Qg5+ Kf8 11. Qg8+ Ke7 12. f8=Q+ Rxf8
13. Rxf8 +5.34 pawns.
