Will Singleton (one of the moderators) posted that a thread had been deleted.
Ulrich Tuerke followed that message up with a post, and from that I guess some
harsh words were said between Harald Faber (another of the moderators) and Bob
Hyatt.  I am not sure if the "decision" Bob refers to is the deletion of the
thread or some comment made in the thread.

The computer chess community is not so large, so it is (usually!) regrettable
when people leave, either of their own volition, or they are forced to.  For
instance, Thorsten Czub had many interesting things to say, even though I
absolutely detested some of his posts!  I think that most people here understand
how much the participation of people like Bob and Ed mean to our group, so
there's no need for me to go on about it.

Finally, I would like to reaffirm my support for a moderated forum.  We may
still lose people from CCC from time to time, but my experience is that we lose
more contributors when there's a lack of moderation than from it being present.
