I think that it is possible to form communities where people surrender some autonomy via a system of rules that they agree to. I think that it is fine to have moderators who have the authority to yank posts and accounts. I don't think that it is true that rules, and representatives elected to enforce them, will result in endemic abuse by these representatives. I still feel that this place serves a purpose and should continue to exist until it isn't necessary that it exist anymore. I think that the system of elected moderators is an improvement over what went before. bruce
