AFAIK this has already happened.

If you don't mean the words, you shouldn't say them. Anyone who does is lying,
plain and simple. Perhaps you don't mind being lied to. I do.

Bob is not just the great poobah for everyone to ask advice from. He has a
family, a job, and generally speaking a life outside of the CCC (though I would
not go so far as to say a life outside of "that computer chess-shit". ;-) If he
decides he doesn't want to show up for a while, or forever, that is his call.
If such a request is made of Bob, and he decides not to return, it shouldn't be
held against him. It is possible to ask too much of someone.

Frankly, I don't think it really matters if the moderators request him to come
back or not, but in any event Will said that they had already hashed out some
differences with him in email. IMO, such a request would have negligable
impact: Bob will return when Bob feels like it, and not sooner. It looks like
Bob actually felt like it, until this latest incident.

While I'm on this "people posting when they feel like it" theme, let's consider
Chris Whittington. You don't hear a squeak from him for long periods of time,
but he's almost always around to kick in his two cents and stir the pot when
things get "juicy". :-) It's a rather amusing habit to me, personally speaking,
but anyway it's just another example of the phenomenon.
