Ok, the question is how can you get an ICC 2460 blitz rating without
actually being any good. In my case by specializing in beating strong computer
opponents (especially crafty clones) occasionally. At slow bullet, fast blitz
time controls (2 1, 2 2, 0 4 or 0 5) I can beat a strong crafty clone 5-10% of
the time. This corresponds to a rating delta of 400-500. So if I consistently
play 2900+ crafty clones it is not surprising for my rating to be in the 2400s.
You might note my max rating is not too much better than 2460 and that
my average rating is no doubt well under 2400. This is because there are some
problems with the above strategy. The primary one is that 2900+ computer
opponents are often reluctant to play rated games against much weaker opponents.
So sometimes I have to play 2700 level crafty clones instead. This makes almost
no difference as far as my win probability goes so my expected rating goes down
considerably. Playing u2600 club members and other weaker computer opponents
also tends to hurt ratings wise. My win probability does not increase
sufficiently to prevent ratings damage. For example against Amateur my win
probability seems to be about 35% corresponding a 100 point rating delta. Since
Amateur's rating seems to average about 2400 this would make my expected rating
playing Amateur around 2300. So if I played Amateur too much my rating would
suffer.

PS: I also find the 4 game in a row limit for Amateur annoying.
