Subject: Little Goliath Gold 2: A Short Review

First I try to run Goliath under Fritz5.32. But even if I have the latest Fritz
April patch and the latest Winboard converter no success! Neither engine-engine,
test suites nor analyze works correct. It's not running with full speed
under that interface and also made sometimes illegal a1-a1 moves. So I gave up.

Further test was made under Winboard. In Celeron300 Goliath NPS is about
275 000! Then I run some standard test suites: In BT2630, BS2830 and LCTII
suites Goliath is very good and beats Fritz5.32 in all of them!! In my
latest endgame test suite it got 31/44, which is worse, than Fritz's 36, but
still better than Rebel, Nimzo and Junior (26-29). I got somehow feeling,
that Goliath is "tuned" for test suites...

So actual play. I have only tested against Crafty16.6 and Crafty seems to be
better with own book or also from Nunn positions.

But Michael Borgstaedt seems to be talented man and I wait commercial version
of Goliath with interest.
