Yes, this is a dissapointment. I recently bought CSTalII for Windows, and it is a wonderfull program, fill of nice features, with a unique playing style. But I am glad I did not own a previous version, as I did not see an upgrade price listing for it anywhere. (If there is, it would be good if Oxford Software would post here about that, as they would likely sell more of them:)). Also, the Dos version was advertised as having tutorial puzzles in it; the windows version has just the program. There are no game databases or tutorial sections that I can see. So I am still left wondering if the Dos version has some feature or features that the windows version does not. It would have been nice if the previous version was included on the CD. One reason Whittington & company may have decided to not do so, likely has to do with the size of the opening book & endgame tablebase. There was likely simply no room on the program CD for any adittional material. Well OK, I've got enough different programs not to be too bothered by this, but then I am, mrslug - the inkompetent chess software addict!
