Somebody posted a question about how long does it take 'your' program to search
10 plies for the second move a new game, with the first move being 1. e4 (my
appologies, I can't find the archived post to attribute it appropriately).

There were a number of responses, may hit 10 plies by 2 minutes. Screamer never
finished the 8th ply. I used this as a quick and dirty test to see how much of
a speed up I achieved.

Alas, the reports of my success were somewhat early. I have a type in my code
that allowed the search to die in most positions, but to actually complete this
search. When corrected, I only get as deep as 9 ply at 2 minutes (backing up a
PV score for the 9th ply at 1:36 ).

Just an indicator that there is more to do.
