I'm somewhat annoyed at myself for buying the DOS Hiarcs 7. I don't know if the cheaper version 7.32 will actually play any better, but it apparently will have that nifty Fritz style interface, tablebase support, and presumably a better opening book editor if it uses the Fritz ctg format. I'm hardly looking for "retribution", although some restitution would be nice ;-), but I have no reason to expect that. I understand that Mark Uniacke does this part time. Maybe he just didn't plan things too well, and decided that selling out to ChessBase was his best business option. I'm more annoyed at myself than anything else, though. After seeing what has been happening with the prices of top programs, Mchess, Rebel, Fritz, Nimzo, I should have been able to predict this. I don't plan to buy Hiarcs7.32 now, but it's too bad I didn't wait.
