I've looked through David Levy and Monty Newborn's "How Computers Play Chess", W.H. Freeman, ISBN 0-7167-8121-2, 1999. - It's a fine book (did not read it yet completely, but almost). Unfortunately, I had to go through quite some trouble to get a copy. When can we expect an updated version? So many great things did happen in computer chess. Many programs with source code are available that teach how computers play chess (ranging from tscp, .... Arasan, to Crafty). On ICC, Crafty 16.7 got a rating of over 3000(!); an incredible achievement. All those news, the how's, and who's should be captured in a new book about this topic. If you know of a _new_ book about computer chess, please let me know. Thanks, Gregor
