Yes, this is the crucial question. Crafty evaluates this position
(which occurs in the line after ..Ne3)

8/4Pk2/5P2/6P1/7K/8/b1n5/8/ b

as close to even. I don't think you can solve this with eval. It is
very tricky: Black has to stop the pawns and if he gives up a piece
to do it, it is a draw. Maybe Black can win but I think it would be
difficult (way beyond my endgame skill level, anyway). So maybe
Crafty's eval is not far off.
