I would be very careful with Arasan on Win NT. I loaded Arasan 5.0b on an NT
machine and it crashed the computer. I had to reformat the hard disk. I wrote
to Jon about this and he sent me an email message (shown below) which indicates
that (1) he knew about the problem (but didn't post any warning messages about
it anywhere) (2) he doesn't really know exactly what the problem is and (3) he
doesn't know if has been fixed.

I have heard of this problem although I have yet to see it happen in my
environment (I run Arasan under both Win 98 and Win NT). Version 5.1 will ship
with a newer version of msvcrt.dll, which may cure it. I don’t think the problem
is due to a virus. Do you know if you had Service Pack 4 installed on your NT
system?

Jon,
I wanted to let you know that I just loaded Arasan 5.0b on my Win NT machine
and it crashed the computer. I get the following very serious error message
before the system gets to the user name / password page:
STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image MSVCRT.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not
match the computed checksum.
Restart and set the recovery options in the system control panel or the
/CRASHDEBUG system start option. If this message reappears, contact your
system administrator or technical support group.
I would encourage you to check to see if this release has a virus.
Cheers,
Michael
