Dear David, If you have a Compaq, you didn't have to take it to a store to restore Windows 98. After the screen froze, you restart the computer after shut down and then as soon as the word Compaq appears, keep pressing the Esc key and start over. By the way, I also love the Hiarcs 7 program! Mel
