I wonder why we always put such emphasis on the outcome of a *single game* in
computer chess. For conclusions like "Prog A is stronger than Prog B", "Computer
programs play GM level", "Computer programs have no positional understanding",
etc. it seems that one result is enough.

Come on, Rebel can certainly do better than that, it had bad luck, maybe as an
unpublished version even had bugs. How would the philosophical debate have run,
had it won? "Computers play GM level", "End of chess", "End of the world as we
know it", etc. ? All based on one game.
