There's nothing like the warmth and camaraderie of playing chess with another human. But, for me anyway, that is not always possible. There is a local area chess club that meets on Thursday nights, but it's in another city, and I don't drive, so I can't get to the coffeehouse where the club meets! So, I turn to my PC, where I can either play online(not the same as the chess club), or play a program called RivalChess, which is a freeware chess program I downloaded from the Internet. A tough opponent, but it gives me plenty of practice. But, again, nothing beats being at a chess club, where you can talk chess as well as play it. Perhaps I should start a chess club of my very own someday! Good idea, don't you think? :-) Gaylord
