What's your opinion? DO computers make better >"chess buddies" than humans? I'd LOVE to know what you HONESTLY think on this >issue. > >Thanks! :-) I think if you have the time and opportunity, play against a human. Otherwise when you want a game play the computer. I get a better and harder games out of a computer than I do with the humans I play against. The only difference is that I can brag to that person when I win. Nothing like beating someone for real. But I think these days the best way for 99% of people to improve in chess is to play against a program. Cause you can play anytime you want. And you will never become shy if you lose. Like some people do when they lose against another person. Not everyone has the time to get coached, or to go to a chess club, and most of the time all your other family members hate the game. And these days you can get a GM level play out of the top programs. And if you have programs like Chessmaster 6000, you get a whole lot of nice features to keep you interested. Most will give you a ranking, I like chessmaster cause you can play against the stack of personalities they a derived from real players. But all the other top programs are good. I would only after CM6K use Rebel 10 or Fritz, Maybe shredder if they halfed the price. Play the Computer
