If I lose, I don't care...it's only a game. I can always try again. Especially if I have a PC chess program, or an electronic chessboard to play with anytime I wish...day or night. I can also set up my own chess scenarios to study as I play them out. Try THAT with another human player---you can't do that, unless you PAY him or her to coach you! Perhaps it's more economical to buy an interactive chess tutoring program or chess gaming device than it is to pay a personal human tutor, to teach you tactics and strategy at your own pace---machines are more patient teachers than humans are! In closing, if you can't find anyone else to play chess with, or if you tend to "shy away" from face-to-face contact, then a chess-playing computer really IS the answer! Thank God for modern technology! -Gaylord, from the USA
