I was once in a meeting of top scientists (flipping slide in the back, actually)
called the bluenose panel meeting. They had a vote on a natural constant (decay
rate of an isotope). The right value passed, but if they had voted the other
way, would it have altered nature?
;-)

I bring this up because opinions without data have no scientific weight. I
really do not know how well it will do, but I suspect rather well. There could
be, of course, a fundamental flaw in the new design or an undiscovered flaw in
the old design that could be exploited. However, I suspect that due to the
sheer computational horsepower it will do very well if the numbers are really as
projected. Be that as it may, my suspicions have no scientific reality until
put to the test.

Indiana state legislature and pi -- and all of that.
