I hope not to bore anyone bringing this topic one more time for discussion. It is often said that Deeper Blue will never return to chess activity because IBM has nothing to win. Then my solution is: give IBM something to win by allowing Deeper Blue to play again. A world championship match is the answer. If Kasparow really wants a third match against the machine he has to offer IBM a shot at his world championship, which would mean a twenty-game match under the usual regulations. After all, he can say «This is what people want to see, not a Kasparow-Anand match». He has some experience turning down challengers, I would not be very surprised if he does it again. Of course, IBM knows it has little chances of success in a match played under world championship regulations, but the posibility is interesting. If Deeper Blue wins then they will really have a big accomplishment to show to the chess and the non-chess world. José.
