There are no new entrants on this version
of the Swedish rating list. But we have
played 685 more tournament games with the
old programs, in order to obtain more reliable
ratings for them.
Fritz 5.32 P200 MMX has gone up one point.
That was enough to give Frans Morschs program
the first place on the list, one point ahead of
number two.
We have played 82 more manual games with
Chessmaster 6000 P200 MMX. It's rating
hasn't changed, and is still 2576, one point
behind Fritz 5.32. Although the margin of
error has diminished, it's still +61 and -53
points, which is clearly higher than for
most other programs on the list.
MChess Pro 8.0 P200 MMX has gained 9 points,
and is now 16 points behind MCP 7.1. Atlanta
has gone up 5 points.
We have now decided that the next hardware
level will be K6-2 450 MHz with 128 MB RAM.
This processor from AMD seems in average
to be 130-150% faster (2,3-2,5 times as fast)
than a Pentium MMX 200 MHz for chess programs.
For the nearest future we intend to play
with the best programs on this new hardware,
in order to establish how many more rating
points it provides compared to P200 MMX.
Next list will appear in August.
