World computer chess championship have always been open to any hardware the team can use. Since the first one in 1977. There are historical reasons to keep it the same way. Testing on equal hardware is also useful and valuable, but it has different purposes. The WCCC is for "big monsters" and small ones that are not affraid of them. José.
