Please better define 'really top player'. In my opinion Michael Rohde is as
'really top player', as Joel Benjamin is. True, he hasn't yet won the US
Championship, but he is a very tallented GM, with many past tournament victories
against both GM's & Computer's. In fact, Mike has recently come out with a
fantastic book on the Sveshnikov Sicilian, and is hard at work on a 'Gambit
Guide' to the Bogo-Indian. He is featured monthly in game of the month in Chess
Life (a post that no less a player then Svetozar Gligoric used to have), and
runs a web site, www.infochess.com. That's a lot of accomplishment for any GM,
much less one who because of the ways of the chess world, has also too have
become a full time attorney in the corporate world.

In fact Benjamin (a really top player?!), after graduating from Yale (Mike also
graduated from Yale), has stated (some years ago),that now that he was done with
college he was going to be a full time chess profesional. Yes, he has succeeded
in that very well. Mike too has succeeded, but not to the same decree as Joel,
being that he is (as mentioned before), a full time attorney.
