I think this was asked (and answered), a while ago.  How much better is todays
chess playing software compared to programs likes Fritz3, Genius2, HIARCS2.1,
compared to todays versions, if put on todays hardware.  Are programmer's really
making great progress beyond the speedup of the microprocesser's, and the large
ram memory available?
