Are computers so strong in Blitz because they have a Time Advantage over us! I have a friend who is only a Class B player (1740) but can win his share against ChessMaster 6000 at 5 min Chess by setting the time control to Fisher Style at 5 min. per side and giving himself 3 seconds extra time per move and allowing ChessMaster Only 1 second extra per move. He also sets the pieces to Slide Slow on the Board when CM makes its move because he feels thats about how long it takes him to move a piece across the board. So he is actually giving himself 2 more seconds per move over ChessMaster and Feels this 2 seconds more per move gives him the time compensation to make it equall. But is it Equall? Making these Adjustments allow him to Win his Share against ChessMaster and his Wins are mostly because CM will run out of time! So this to me dont seem Fair! ChessMaster is Rated high and to my understanding its rating is even higher when playing Blitz or Speed Chess! Can someone explain this? If these adjustments are not Fair to ChessMaster or any Chess Computer then what is Fair to the Human and Computer as far as Time Adjustment? Thankyou in Advance for any input that you can share on this Topic!!! Terry Ripple
