Represent pawns by position only, and store e.p. as follows: If a white pawn is e.p. vulnerable, set the position to be first row. If a black pawn is e.p. vulnerable, set the position to be eighth row. Since the very presence of e.p. vulnerabilty tells us where the pawn is, we don't need to store any e.p. bits that way.
