Thanks, I was not aware of the exact standard. I thought that most anything could be included within the brackets. For example [SSDFRating "whatever"]. For me the rating is not so crucial a piece of information to include when the opponent is a computer. But here is another of example I got from this CCC site. It was not posted by you but was from one of your games on the internet that someone else posted. [Event "ICC 30 0 u"] [Site "Internet Chess Club"] [Date "1999.03.27"] [Round "?"] [White "Ferret"] [Black "Wilder"] [Result "1-0"] [WhiteElo "2622"] [BlackElo "2110"] [ECO "B63"] Here again the ELO tags are confusing. Certainly Wilder is not rated 2110 ELO. I'm guessing that the Ferret rating was its current ICC rating. From this example however crucial information is missing. Machine used and speed? Time control? Hash table size (maybe not so crucial)? So the above tag probably should show something like [White "Ferret Alpha XYZ] and in the "Event" tag have the time control included. For many of us CCC regulars we will know the time control or that you use an Alpha computer but down the road this info will be forgotten or lost. So my wish is that some kind of computer game standard is adopted using the already present PGN protcol. Perhaps it could be described on the CCC Web pages as a reference to new posters. > >Meanwhile, I would think that kludging the SSDF ratings into there is probably >fine. > >It probably makes sense to force all of the software/hardware/settings data into >the name field, if possible, since 1) that is really what determines who the >"player" is, and 2) anything else would cause mass insanity. I was thinking that would be the best place also. What about where to include the time control? Or the use of two vs one computer for home matches ?
