ad 1) How exactly should this proof be accomplished? I mean, many people can do
miracles with a scanner, a laser printer and a xerox machine. They can ID
themselves as the Pope with no problems! :-)
And I personally couldn't tell a Pakistani passport from a ticket to Disneyworld
(apologies to any Pakistani reading this :-) anyway.
I doubt this would keep anyone but the dullest abusers outside.
And there are many clever abusers around, unfortunately... ;-(

ad 2) Just for the record: this is not a valid argument in a discussion.
I bet there are many people who are not willing to have their rooms videotaped
by the police for dubious reasons. So if I advocated installing a webcam in your
bedroom, the ones shouting the loudest... see where this kind of reasoning is
getting you?

I'm not so much into people hiding their identity either, but
I don't see so many cases of abuse on CCC that this kind of action seems
necessary, especially considering the work involved.
