Andreas, you are definitely not alone! I stopped playing against my own chess
program (at least stopped hoping to win) many years ago, it's too frustrating...

But, hey, the first times your program wins against you should be wonderful
moments for you, no? It shows that your program is getting better!

At this point, maybe you should think about making your engine
Winboard-compatible, so that you can let it play automatically against other
engines, or, even better (as you already have an FICS-account), get a computer
account on FICS and let it play there. Try to find some good human opponents,
it's absolutely fascinating what good human players can do to your program ;-)

If you're ready, feel free to match your engine against mine, which is playing
using the handle "HMChess" on FICS. I'm looking forward to it :)
