Moderator voting has begin! 1) We have taken several security measures to ensure that the voting process is free from manipulation. We will not make public those measures for obvious reasons. 2) CCC members who signed up after May 23, 1999 are not eligible to vote. 3) Those members who are eligible may access the voting booth by clicking on "Computer Chess Resource Center" and then "Computer-Chess Club Opinion Poll". 4) If you wish to read the moderation philosophies of the candidates, you may do so by clicking on "Computer Chess Resource Center" and then "Computer-Chess Club Moderator Elections". 5) The voting will end at 5 P.M. (New York time) on Wednesday, June 23rd. We will announce the winners on Thursday morning, June 24th. 6) The current moderators will stay in office through June 30, and we trust that there will be substantial communication between the incoming and outgoing moderators prior to the new regime taking over on July 1st. 7) You may vote for as many or as few moderators as you wish. The top three vote getters will be elected and vote getter #4 will be an alternate. The new moderators may decide how the alternate may or may not serve. 8) We now ask that all discussion related to the voting be halted. On a personal note... From my view on the inside, I feel it safe to say that the job of moderator is more suited to Hell than it is here on earth. It is generally a thankless job which entails endless hours of making decisions that will not make some people happy. But whether you agree with decisions that have been made in the past or not, I can assure you that a seeming lack of judgment on any moderator's part should not be mistaken for a failure to want to do the "right" thing. My thanks to Will, Harold, and Peter for some pretty tough work. Finally, I applaud the current nominees for stepping up to the plate (to likely get thrown at), for without moderators this forum would be one gigantic food fight. I do not know about any of you, but I like what has been created here, and I hope that the winners can contribute in a positive way to making the CCC an even better place to be. - Steve (ICD/Your Move)
