This is news to me. When did Kasparov snub Intel? I have read a number of
statements of his regarding Intel but I don't recall any of them snubbing Intel
(not even in a loose interpretation of the word). If you are seeking an
explanation to Intel's refusal to renew it's sponsorship of the Grand Prix
tournament series, you might be interested in Kasparov's piece entitled "Money
for Chess" at his site. Although it is not about the Intel affair it offers
excellent material for thought. http://www.clubkasparov.ru/club/int8e.htm

Thanks Albert I read the article.

I can't be sure, but at the time I was told by someone who was aware of what's
going on in the chess scene, that by accepting IBM,s Deep Thought's challenge
Kasparov effectively ruined any chance that Intel would continue to sponsor
chess.

Contrary to Kasparov's would like everyone to believe, in my opinion, and I
could be very wrong, Kasparov gained personally by playing IBM at the cost of
Intel's continuing sposorship which gave other GM's a chance to make some real
money.

Seeing that you quoted an article from Club Kasparov, here's an excerpt of
another, in Kasparov's own words which I believe support my point of how
Kasparov upsets sponsors:
http://www.clubkasparov.ru/club/int7e.htm
"Let us be reasonable, there are a lot of soccer clubs in Spain but there is
only one World Champion. It
seems to me, that at a certain point such people as this editor should be
taught a lesson. They should
see that as long as they behave in such a way, I do not care about them either:
in the long run, I do not
lack invitations. However, what worries me, is that no one in the World of
Chess realizes that similar
situations are intolerable. Unless somebody gets to grips with the situation,
this will go on forever. And
this is the defense of a chess player’s good name – people begin to understand
that chess and chess
players should be treated with greater respect."

Here Kasparov is whining that he was kept waiting for 15 minutes because the
editor of the Spanish newspaper was speaking to the coach of Real Madrid. As if
he didn't know, Soccer is like a religion in Spain and any Spanish editor would
be mad to hang up on Real Madrid's coach.
