This is an edited excerpt from a conversation I heard on ICC. I was somewhat shocked by what was said. I'm wondering what other people think about this. Jeremiah **************************************************************************** y[7] kibitzes: junior is doing 2x tactical, db probably does 4x (This was in reference to extensions - Junior apparently does x-ply of positional search, and 2x-ply in tactical search.) x[7] kibitzes: no x[7] kibitzes: deep blue has released its specs x[7] kibitzes: it's doing way less x[7] kibitzes: junior would crush tacdtically deep blue like a child y[7] kibitzes: way less? typical extensions were going from 5 ply search to 20 ply x[7] kibitzes: it's very well known since april/march what deep blue was doing z[7] kibitzes: DB was getting well over 40 ply selective in most positions ...12 ply full-width with NO forward pruning... x[7] kibitzes: is getting this position selecitvely over 40 ply too x[7] kibitzes: says nothing x[7] kibitzes: junior gets over 40 ply too x[7] kibitzes: please ignore selective depths x[7] kibitzes: i get up to 100 ply selective ****************************************************************************
