If I turn out to be wrong, I will not worry about it too much. :-) If you meant to ask why I am guessing that Junior will win, it is because: 1) I think that Hiarcs and Junior are roughly equally strong players on generic single CPU Intel-compatible machines. 2) Junior is running on 4 processors, but Hiarcs is running on only one. 3) I think that item 2) will be more important than Hiarcs having White. I am surprised that some programmers haven't paid too much attention to their opening books. It has a very big effect on the kind of game you reach. In particular, the use of second-rate lines is not justified. Dave
