With the tiny number of games involved, we really do not know anything about the
strength of the programs.

That is why the SSDF performs 100 games before they even publish the results.

Hold off on the garbage can.  It's a good program.

If they played two games a day for the next 6 months, we would have a pretty
clear picture of how strong the programs really are.  With the current format,
we don't even have all the programs playing each other program even once!  So
really, the certainty about which program is best is not good at all.

The purpose of an event like this [WCCC] is for fun, and to crown somebody as
champion.  If your favorite program does not win, it is not a disaster at all.

It makes for good advertizing copy on the side of the box.
