Wow, I didn't know that, that is really great news. He must be the first
professional publishing some of his ideas, right? If this is true, than
we all have to thank him for doing the first step!!

His ideas about Machine Learning may not be the most important part of his
ideas and his program (how the hell does his search work??? ;-), but it's
a start and surely very, very interesting.

I remember many years back, it was at the time of MChess 1.71 or MChess Pro
3.12, when I tried to figure out how his search worked. Those old versions
of MChess used to spit out *extremely* long main variations, even at low
nominal search depths (these were the times of 80286 and slow 80386 PC's).
And MChess blew away all programs available for PC's at that time - my own
(private) program included, of course. I remember sitting there, writing
down all main lines, analysing the varations and trying to find out, which
extensions were used to produce these long lines. But no way. Always when I
thought I had found a theme, the next main line destroyed my thoughts...
I finally gave up, thinking that he maybe used singular extensions or
something similar. I'm still impressed by MChess play, and still it's search
is a miracle to me.

Yes, please!

Maybe I should change my mind and go to Paderborn again tomorrow...
I didn't want to go tomorrow, because the playing rounds start much to early
(13:00 local time, I would be there at about 17:30, much too late, most of the
games would be over then). But I guess you have to be a member of the ICCA to
attend the conference?

Heiko.
