Folks--Bertil is correct! CM6000 comes with the default setting of TTABLE=20 in cm.ini which is 1MB hash. Set TTABLE=21 for 2MB hash. Set TTABLE=22 for 4MB hash. Set TTABLE=23 for 8MB hash. Set TTABLE=24 for 16MB hash. You could also try setting TTABLE=25 for 32MB hash if you have 64MB RAM or more. Or at the other end of the spectrum if you have very little RAM, TTABLE=19 would give 0.5MB hash, etc. I have done some tests with my old slowpoke i486 66MHz with 32MB RAM, and for me 8MB hash seems about right. Rough rule of thumb: Use about 1/4th of your RAM for hash. It is also a function of your time setting. There is a slight improvement if you can use a bigger hash table with long time controls. But there's really not much difference, maybe at most a 10%-20% improvement in speed of calculation! The value of hash tables seems overblown, certainly for CM6000. For best results, buy the fastest processor you can afford... JRM
