It appears that Shredder and Hiarcs are about equal in playing ability. Since the other ongoing tourneys show Hiarcs to have an edge over Fritz, Fritz will probably lose its' contest with Hiarcs tomorrow. I wonder how many people will bet money on this outcome? I won't because I just bought Hiarcs 7.32 from ICD and don't have any money left to wager. I bet that Steve Schwartz is betting on increased sales of Shredder 3 and Hiarcs 7.32 and is placing advanced orders with his suppliers. Now, don't get me wrong, I think that Fritz 5.32 is a great program. It is just not as good as Hiarcs 7.32 or Shredder 3 . Yes, I do think that sales of Fritz will slump a bit until the next Fritz but ChessBase doesn't care since it is distributing Hiarcs 7.32 also. As for MChessPro, I pity poor Marty Hirsch because I know how much it hurts him to lose. I own MChessPro 8 and find it to be an outstanding program. It beats me on a regular basis. With Hiarcs 7.32 I will be beaten with more finesse and if I get around to putting in that 23 Gigabyte hard drive just for the endgame tablebases I will have the "JOY" of seeing Hiarcs announce "mate in 32".
