Hello Chris,
Hiarcs will access the TB's from the CD ROM if it's in the drawer (I think).
The opening book is also accessed from the CD ROM unless you install them on
your hard drive.(About 500 Meg)  I don't know what your problem is because as
far as I know when installed the default settings are the strongest settings.
If you are beating it with the default settings then you must be pretty good.
Make sure you don't have hash tables set too large which causes the Hard disk to
drive all the time you are playing.
One tip:  If you select your level first then go to-Levels,Engine research,
System configuration, a box will appear which tells you the "Optimum hash
size(200Mhz)".  You can adjust your hash tables to this size or higher if your
processor is faster than 200Mhz or lower if your processor is slower than
200Mhz.
