http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/ search for 1,20,400 the answer for ply 5 is (4865609 ->) 815677 (this is without ep, castling, or transpositions). (I agree with 1,20,400,5362...) the answer for the number of *move sequences* at ply 9 is <88867026005 (one of the other sequences there, calculated without legality checking). maybe I will do it with Dann's rules, although it will require it bit of an EPD mutant...
