It would be of some help if you would also post what opening books are used for
each program; for example, you should't be using Hiarcs opening book for Fritz
and vice versa. Also, there are two opening books for Fritz - general ctg, and
F5 book ctg. The latter is especially suited to Fritz's playing style from what
I've been able to ascertain. It would also be important to know what hash-table
settings you used for Hiarcs and Fritz. Also relevant to hash-tables is the
speed of your processor - which should also be noted here. The formula for
hash-tables is the same for both Hiarcs and Fritz:
2 x processor speed x seconds per move = HT. Example: 40/2 on a 400MHz processor
would require 144 megs for optimum use according to the manual, program, and
other informed sources.
