On my ftp site, you may find some files: ftp://38.168.214.175/pub/Work%20If%20You%20Want%20To/theroadnottravelled.epd contains 2,134 EPD positions (and a subdirectory called subfiles that contains the same information cut into 10 row segments). This file contains positions where an opening position went somewhere else, the computer analysis suggested this position, and nobody has ever tried it. Kind of surprising that out of 7,862 positions 2,134 computer suggested moves have never been tried.[1] Anyway, I would like to pound all of these at one hour each before I try the connect the dots experiment. If anyone has an EPD processing software like Hiarcs, Rebel, or Crafty, and is willing to process them, please do and send your results to me via email. [1] If they have been tried, the following conditions hold: A. They are not part of any of the standard opening sequences B. They have not been played in at least 50 times in our huge database of games. C. They are not contained in any of our detailed experiments for EPD test positions, Orangutan or Stonewall games.
