Given the the present trend of processor speed doubling every couple of years and the advent of endgame tablebases who do you think will benefit the most, the knowledge based programs or the tactically fast programs? I've read in some of the software reviews about certain programs being deficient in the endgame, wouldn't tablebases correct this? And would it benefit the fast searchers to calculate 2-3 ply deeper if a knowledge based program gains an extra ply? Imo I think those programs with the best middlegame will eventually win the race.
