Hiarcs saves its hash tables between moves, Fritz starts from scratch at the beginning of each move. This in essence gives Hiarcs the equivalent of pondering in the engine vs. engine matches. In competition between the two programs on separate machines, I believe that there is not much difference between the two, maybe Hiarcs is a bit stronger.
